Shakib ends New Zealand's misery
Resuming on the overnight score of 155, New Zealand could add only 16 runs as Bangladesh performed the last rites with Shakib Al Hasan bowling out Iain O'Brien. Undoubtedly, the star performer for Bangladesh, he finished with a career-best of 7 for 36. Daniel Vettori was left stranded at 55, having brought up his half-century on the seventh ball of the day with a push behind square leg off Abdur Razzak.
Any hopes of prolonging the New Zealand innings ended after just 26 balls as O'Brien was undone by a Shakib delivery tossed up outside the leg stump. He tried to play with his pads but the ball went through his legs hitting the leg stump.
Bangladesh will now be keen to add to the lead of 74 and will be confident as they edge closer to their first-ever Test win against New Zealand.
